Klaus Bottger, Klaus 'Boettger' (Dresden, 1942 - Wiesbaden, 1992)

A twentieth century master of erotic art, Klaus Bottger (also spelt 'Klaus Boettger') received his primary artistic education at the Hochschulinstitut in Mainz. He then studied philosophy, biology and art history at the University of Mainz.
Klaus Bottger's first solo exhibition took place at the Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Gaeta. Since that time his drawings, paintings, and original prints have been the subject of exhibitions at institutions in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Munich, Berlin, Mannheim, Strasburg, Madrid and elsewhere.

From 1977 to 1991 Klaus Bottger was also active as an artist of the book. He illustrated works by such authors as Ambrose Bierce, Alexandre Dumas, Umberto Eco, Giovanni Boccaccio, Leonard Woolf and Mary Higgins Clark.

Today the fine art of Klaus Bottger is included in the following public collections: Neue Sammlungen, Munich, Kunsthalle, Hamburg, Gutenbergmuseum, Mainz, Stadtische Kunsthalle, Mannheim, Kupferstich Kabinett, Berlin, The Albertina, Vienna, Bibliotheques Nationales, Paris, Andersen Museum, Odense, Denmark, and the Denver Art Museum, Colorado.
